My Story

I started The Scrub Club Co. while at home with my one-year-old son. Becoming a stay-at-home mom was the greatest gift, but I also wanted a way to stay connected to my work, my identity, and my purpose.

I worked hard to become a nurse, and after nursing school I began my career in women’s health. Even though I chose to step back and stay home with my son, I still wanted to feel represented — and to create something that supported the profession I love.

Even though I’m a nurse, I’ve always loved the business side of things and dreamed of starting something of my own. My first itch to build a business came while I was pregnant with my son, when I opened my first Etsy shop. I still run it today, creating badge reels that look and feel like jewelry. I got hooked on not just making sales, but hearing from healthcare workers who loved them — who felt a little more confident or joyful wearing something that was “theirs.”

Something that unites so many healthcare workers is the shared experience of burnout, exhaustion, and the emotional toll this work can take. Through school and practice, I often heard nurses say how overworked, underappreciated, or even mistreated they felt — not just by patients, but sometimes even by peers. I’ve always been an emotional person, one who deeply feels what patients are going through, but in healthcare we’re told to “suck it up” and move on. That never sat right with me.

I had no idea organizations like The Emotional PPE Project existed until recently. Learning about their mission to provide free, confidential mental health support to healthcare workers opened my eyes — and confirmed for me that we need to bring awareness to these issues and stand together in support.

That’s why I created Scrub Club: to bring comfort, representation, and community to healthcare workers. This brand is for the ones who give so much of themselves, yet still deserve to feel seen, valued, and cared for.
